Perineural Injection

Perineural Injection Therapy — also called Neural Prolotherapy or Lyftogt Therapy — is a precise, low-volume, low-concentration dextrose injection placed directly along irritated subcutaneous nerves. It targets the small sensory nerves that contribute to chronic pain through neurogenic inflammation.

What it treats

Perineural therapy is used for chronic musculoskeletal pain that has a strong neurogenic component, including:

Chronic tendinopathies (Achilles, lateral epicondylitis / “tennis elbow,” patellar)
Chronic neck and back pain with no clear structural lesion
Carpal tunnel-like symptoms
Plantar fasciitis
Post-surgical scar pain
Chronic regional pain syndromes (with appropriate clinical evaluation)

How it differs from other prolo-style therapies

Classic prolotherapy uses higher dextrose concentrations injected into joint and ligament insertion points
Prolozone combines dextrose and ozone at the joint
Perineural therapy uses very low (often 5%) dextrose along the path of inflamed sensory nerves under the skin

Who shouldn't have it

Patients with active infection at injection sites, bleeding disorders, allergies to injection components, or unstable cardiovascular conditions need careful screening.

During Treatment

Sessions take 20–40 minutes. Patients receive multiple small injections along the affected nerve pathway. Most describe the injections as mild pinches.
