Ozone Injection

Ozone injections deliver a precise dose of medical-grade ozone directly into a target tissue — a joint, trigger point, fascial plane, or peri-neural space. The therapy uses ozone's biological effects on inflammation, oxygenation, and tissue repair.

Where ozone injections are commonly used

  • Joints — knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, finger, sacroiliac (often as prolozone, paired with dextrose and procaine)
  • Trigger points and myofascial pain — combined with neural therapy approach
  • Peri-articular soft tissue — tendinopathies, ligamentous sprains
  • Spinal facet joints and paraspinal muscles — under clinical evaluation
  • Disc herniation protocols — under appropriate imaging guidance

Why ozone

Ozone produces controlled oxidative signals that, in low doses, stimulate the body's antioxidant response, improve local oxygenation, and modulate inflammation. Combined with dextrose (prolotherapy), the protocol is called prolozone and adds a connective-tissue regenerative component.

Who shouldn't have ozone injections

Patients with G6PD deficiency, active hyperthyroidism, recent heart attack or stroke, pregnancy (relative), or active infection at the injection site need careful screening. We review medical history at consultation.

During Treatment

A typical injection session takes 15–30 minutes. Most patients describe the injection as a mild pinch with brief warmth or pressure as the ozone enters. Several sessions over weeks are common; the exact protocol depends on the area treated and your response. Book an interventional or regenerative consultation at Upper Room Clinic Toronto.
