Hair Rejuvenation with PRP

Hair loss can be deeply personal. Whether you're noticing thinning, an expanding part line, a receding hairline, or patchy loss, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy at Upper Room Clinic is a natural, non-surgical option that uses your own blood's growth factors to support hair-follicle health.

What is it?

Platelet-Rich Plasma is concentrated platelets isolated from a small sample of your own blood. Platelets carry growth factors — molecules that signal tissue repair, blood-vessel growth, and cellular renewal. When carefully injected into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles, PRP supports follicular health, reactivates dormant follicles, and improves hair density over a series of treatments.

PRP is autologous — meaning it comes from you and goes back into you — so the rejection or allergy risk is essentially zero.

What we treat with PRP for hair

PRP for hair is most often used for:

  • Androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern thinning) — the most common indication
  • Telogen effluvium (stress-, illness-, or post-pregnancy-related shedding)
  • Hairline restoration — receding or thinning frontal areas
  • Diffuse thinning — across the crown or part line
  • Adjunctive support for transplant patients pre- and post-procedure

PRP is most effective for early-to-moderate hair loss. Patients with completely dormant or scarred follicles see less benefit and may be better candidates for surgical restoration.

The Benefits

Many patients combine PRP with red light therapy, microneedling on the scalp, and oral supplements (biotin, iron, vitamin D where deficient) for compounding effects. Your treatment plan is personalized at consultation.

The PRP Procedure & Treatment Plan

We draw a small sample of your blood (about 30 mL — roughly a tablespoon). It's processed in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich layer. We then carefully inject the PRP into the scalp at the follicular level using fine needles. Topical numbing or a vibration device reduces sensation during injection.

The full session takes about 60–90 minutes including blood draw, processing, and injection. Most patients return to normal activity the same day; mild scalp tenderness for 24–48 hours is common.

Initial PRP for hair typically involves a series of 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 4–6 months. Visible results typically appear 3–6 months in as new follicles cycle through growth phases. Outcomes are gradual, not overnight — but durable when maintenance is followed.

During Treatment

Most adults with hair loss are candidates. Contraindications include active scalp infection, certain bleeding disorders, anticoagulant medication (we adjust timing), and active malignancy without oncologist clearance. Book an initial hair-loss consultation online — we'll review your history, examine your scalp, and build a personalized PRP plan.
